Story
The fan dance is an event I was planning to complete with Craig but now I'm doing it solo in his memory.
If your not familiar with the event in the videos tab there is a video that will illustrate the challenge I'm taking on (start at 4minutes and run to approx 16.30)
In short (from the event website .. ) "The challenge begins as soon as the race does with an immediate ascent of Pen y Fan which is 2,907 feet (886 m). The route then descends on the other side of the peak with a pathed route to the halfway point before turning around and reversing the route. The return leg provides an even tougher challenge with the evil ascent back up the Fan known as Jacob’s Ladder." this is all while carrying 25lb minimum of weight (plus food and water)
Recently, been suffering a severe lack of motivation for training so to hold myself accountable I have agreed to now do this to also try and raise some funds for WAY
WAY stands for Widowed and Young - they offer support, understanding and friendship to anyone who has lost a partner before their 51st birthday - married or not, and with children or not inclusive of sexual orientation, race and religion.
Personally I would have been lost without WAY over the last 14 months, having people who 'get it' especially on the bad days is something money can't buy, but its also nice to see that people do find a path to navigate life with grief it gives what we all need a bit of hope, a small chink of light in the darkness.
Like all charities WAY needs funds to keep providing these services, and they charge a small fee to be a member (currently £25 a year) I've set my target at £100 the equivalent of gifting 4 yearly memberships - as WAY will help people who can't afford to join where necessary.
Any donation will be gratefully received - help give me 100 bits of accountability to drag my backside out and train, so I stand a chance of beating pen y fan rather than it handing my backside to me :)
