My Memorial 25km Walk for Dreams Come True and bringing a smile to a child's face

North Downs 50 Ultra Challenge 2025 · 12 July 2025 ·
I am walking 25km over the North Downs taking on yet more hills in the Ultra Marathon in memory of my Grandad Dick Whittington who passed away in April 2024. This time I have decided to raise money for the Dreams Come True Charity, as my grandad always told me to go after my dreams.
For some children this is not possible due to a disability, serious illness or life-limiting condition, and DCT are a national charity with a mission to enrich the lives of children with a disability, serious illness or life-limiting conditions by making their dreams come true.
When I was younger, my nan, grandad and me visited a special girl (my cousin) called Laura in Kent who was born with a very rare condition (1 in 3 in the country). She was a very special girl who lived with a life limiting condition and I will always remember those times, those smiles and giggles we had. Laura died at a young age 24, and for those years she was with us, had many struggles and limitations but she still smiled in ways that would light a room.
Knowing a charity like DCT provide such amazing experiences to other children making their dreams come true is why I have chosen this charity and also feels connected to my Nan, Grandad and Laura and those specials times we had as children.
Dreams Come True offer amazing support, whether it’s a specially adapted trike for a child with cerebral palsy or a tablet to help an autistic teenager develop their communication skills, each dream brings moments of magic and has a lasting impact for years to come.
Any donation that you can make could make a child's Dream Come True and with your support you can help put a smile on their face.
Thank you Everyone for your Support on this walk.
