On 15th Aug i'll be taking part in the Great Wilderness Challenge which aptly lives up to its name. The picturesque Scottish Highland villages of Poolewe and Aultbea and surrounding country estates, play host to this gruelling endurance events. It’s set in some of the most beautiful and rugged landscapes in Scotland consisting of rough terrain, river crossings, bogs and high climbs. The 25 mile route follows a route through the Fisherfield forest renowned for the mighty An Teallach this area is often know as the great wilderness.

It may be physically demanding and I defiantly feel broken afterwards But I love doing it and this year I’m aiming to raise as many donations as possible for Perthshire Women's Aid. They provide specialist services offering emotional and practical support to women and children experiencing or recovering from domestic abuse.

I've been lucky enough to work with them for over a year now and I’m continually amazed at the skill and experience of all who work there and the positive effect they have on all those who require their help.

£10 helps towards providing comfort and essential items when someone first reaches out for support.

£20 helps to develop a safety plan and access specialist advice

£50 can help a child attend a recovery group allowing them to feel supported and not feel alone.

£100 can help fund specialist counselling supporting recovery from trauma and abuse

£200 can allow for coordinated support – refuge, safety planning, comfort and essentials items and ongoing recovery support services.

Any donation, no matter the size helps women and children move forward from surviving to thriving.
