Running for Mind: In Memory of my Granny Nell and Uncle Derrick (who was like a dad to me) I'm running the Nice Ultra Trail Marathon in October and New York Marathon in November.
This year has been a tough one for me and my family. In December, I lost my granny, who struggled with depression, and in April, I lost my uncle, who battled for his life with bipolar disorder and sadly passed away from cancer. Supporting my loved ones through their mental health struggles has been a huge part of my life from a really young age, and it’s taken a lot of work to stay grounded through it all. Therapy and exercise have been my saviours. Anyone who knows me know I'm a positive little bean and I take each day to the full but everyone has their battles and dealing with grief was a real battle for me.
To honour their memory and raise awareness for mental health, I’ve signed up for two big challenges: the Nice 54km UTMB trail ultra and the New York Marathon, just a month apart (some might say I’m being a little too ambitious!). I’m running both to support Mind, a charity that means a lot to me for the work they do for mental health.
If you’re able to donate, even £5, I’d be forever grateful. Every little bit helps, and together we can make a difference.
Thank you for your support!
Vicky :)
