Story

In Memory of Vicky McGloin

On the 23rd October 2025 Vicky McGloin passed away, leaving behind heartbroken family and friends. The loss to wider community is also significant one, with the various organisations and charities that Vicky was involved with losing a passionate supporter.

Vicky had great plans - her work in IT with the NHS had shown her that there were transformational changes that she felt could be achieved and that she wanted to play a big role in these. She had plans to take a masters degree in public health and try and look at ways in which she could bring her own form of transformation in delivering improvements in women's health issues - challenges that Vicky herself had faced and continued to face until her passing.

We therefore invite donations through this page in Vicky's memory to the Aberdeen Centre for Women's Health Research (ACWHR) at the University of Aberdeen. The Centre works closely with NHS colleagues, and is dedicated to improving the lives of women across their life course, identifying the best ways to deliver effective and personalised care for conditions from fertility through pregnancy, childbirth, menstrual disorders, precancerous conditions, and pelvic floor disorders.

Other Causes

Vicky was passionate about many things, especially linked to opportunities for children - when our children were little she was involved in supporting mothers with breastfeeding, and was an active volunteer in a range of kids activities over the years, including funding raising for various causes. In recent times, much of this activity focussed on scouting, as a cub leader, and a desire to give kids the skills and opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. She was also passionate about animals, of all sorts, but her harlequin macaw, Apollo, was really the love of her life, and our cats are all rescue cats. If you wish to make a donation to any organisation that is involved in supporting these activities, I know it would be gratefully received, and very much appreciated by Vicky.
