Story
It’s been a couple of years since I donned my trainers to run in support of the fabulous Miscarriage Association, a cause very close to my heart after our family experienced the deep sorrow of pregnancy loss three times over. Some of you visiting this page might be lovely, loyal supporters of the #StrutYourSongs campaigns I ran for a few years to acknowledge the role music had played in helping me to come to terms with our losses, to play my part in breaking the silence around miscarriage and to do something practical to help other people experiencing loss.
On Sunday 12 May I’ll be running the Leeds half marathon in a special edition of #StrutYourSongs. It’s a different kind of loss driving me this time and I’ll be running in memory of my lovely Dad, who passed away suddenly in 2023.
Dad shared my great love of music - in his own words he was “a jazz man” and he also played the violin for many years in a local orchestra. He also supported me when I was raising money for the Miscarriage Association, telling some of his friends about it and coming along to the events - even if he couldn’t run himself!
Music has been a constant source of support for me in the last 12 months as I’ve adjusted to life without my Dad. Accompanying me on my half-marathon run will be Charles Esten’s “Love Ain’t Pretty” album and the Wandering Hearts’ “Mother”.
Any support you feel able to offer will spur me on as I run and your donations will fund the vital services provided by the Miscarriage Association to those affected by the experience and pain of pregnancy loss.
Thank you in advance. This one’s for you, BB ❤️
