Next year I'm aiming to achieve a long held ambition by running the London Marathon in memory of my brother Alex, raising funds for Penny Brohn UK, a cancer and wellbeing charity based in Bristol. Alex was diagnosed with an incurable brain cancer (Glioblastoma) in late 2012 and lived through surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and the rollercoaster cycle of debilitating seizures, MRI scans and nerve racking wait for results. I'm always inspired by the memory of Alex's sense of humour, strength and kindness, and how he continued to work and look after his family : Sarah, Megan and Chloe.

Penny Brohn provided an amazing amount of support to Alex and Sarah through this incredibly difficult time, including a taxi service for appointments, useful courses, counselling and delicious food. Alex passed away in Feb 2017 having outlived many other fellow sufferers of this terrible illness. We are left with his cheeky smile in our memory and his kindness in our hearts.
