Story
In memory of Vic, we are asking for donations instead of flowers to raise funds for:
The Renal Ward at Salford Royal Hospital.
Vic attended dialysis three times a week for seven years. During Covid, the nurses and volunteers on the ward were often the only people he saw, and they cared for him not only with professionalism but with true friendship. Gaynor, Dan, Sarah (his niece) and their team went above and beyond every single day. May, who gave her time to provide voluntary massage, offered comfort and kindness that meant so much to Dad. He also found friendship and laughter with fellow dialysis patients Delia, Sandra and Shabana.
Dialysis is a lonely, exhausting journey—social life disappears under the weight of side effects. We once suggested Dad try dialysis at home to make things easier, but he refused—he didn’t want to miss the nurses and friends who had become such an important part of his life. A true social butterfly, he valued their company above all.
More and more people are living with chronic kidney disease, and the numbers continue to rise. While risk increases with age, kidney failure can strike at any time, leaving patients facing dialysis or the hope of a transplant. The reality is heartbreaking: there is still no cure.
That is why your donations matter. Together, we can help fund vital research, support kidney patients across the Northwest, and give renal professionals the training and resources they need to carry on their life-changing work.
We all love and miss you Vic/Dad a true northern soul xx
