Story
I feel deeply honoured to share a few words about our grandad, Victor Collins – a man who was, without question, a true force of nature. He wasn’t just a grandad; he was the embodiment of wisdom, wit, strength, and love. His intellect shone through in every conversation, his sharp sense of humour made everyone around him laugh until their cheeks ached, and his unyielding willpower set an example of resilience that none of us will ever forget.
Grandad fought a brave and relentless battle with cancer, showing strength and courage every step of the way. He fought until the very end, never letting the disease take away his spirit, his humour, or his love for life. The way he faced this challenge, just as he faced everything else in life, was a testament to the incredible man he was – strong, steadfast, and full of heart.
Victor's life was rich with joy, adventure, and the kind of love that only a family like ours could provide. He had four children, seven grandchildren, and three four-legged grandchildren, all of whom adored him deeply. Together, we shared countless memories: cruising across the seas, embarking on family holidays, and spending time with him while he told us enchanting bedtime stories of magic carpets and faraway places. His words would weave a tapestry of magic, and for those few moments, we were all transported to another world – one where anything was possible.
And who could forget his blackcurrant jam? It was something truly special, just like the man himself. Every jar was a piece of his heart, and we will forever associate that sweet, tangy taste with the love and care he poured into everything he did. His kindness, his humor, and his generosity were always on full display. He was simply the best fun ever – the kind of person who made every moment brighter just by being there.
Grandad, you were a beacon of strength and joy for all of us. You shaped our lives in ways we will carry forever, and your legacy lives on in the stories, the laughter, and the love that we share as a family. We miss you beyond words, but we are so incredibly grateful for the time we had with you. You were, and always will be, one of the brightest lights in our lives.
Rest in peace, Grandad. Thank you for everything. We love you more than words could ever say. ❤️
