GDA and CCP fundraising firewalk 2024 · 23 February 2024 ·

Our fire walk will be an exhilarating experience and a fantastic way to raise money for two great causes! Taking place on 23 February on Brickhampton Court Golf Complex, join our firewalk for a test of mental strength, concentration, and mindfulness!

Story

Hot coals. Bare feet. A brisk walk over them. Have I convinced you it's worthy of a donation yet?

Having worked with CCP for a number of years now, I regularly see first hand the real-life, local impact of what they do and how they significantly improve people's lives. I am often reminded how lucky I am, how privileged, and just how challenging life is for many people. It seems very insignificant for me to consider walking on fire, if it means that CCP can make a difference in more lives. I am however equal parts excited and nervous, so would appreciate some courage in the form of cash as a suitable incentive!

This year, CCP is raising money to pilot two "Chelpods" which are independent safe sleeping pods for street homeless. Their plan is to trial two pods, with support from one of their support workers, to help turnaround lives and permanently get people 'off the streets' and back into society. If successful - which I know they will be - this could be a very real, very realistic solution to prevent street homelessness across the country.

CCP has very humbly asked that I pay £20 to take part, and raise £100, but I want to smash that. In just six weeks, I'd love to raise £10,000, but I'll settle for £1,000. Can you help get me there?
