Victoria's fundraiser for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY

Victoria Allen is raising money for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY

Team: Team fundraising for THE CHRISTIE CHARITY

“Christie’s Macclesfield to Christie’s Withington 16 miles”

on 5 July 2025

The Christie charity provides enhanced services over and above what the NHS funds. Your support can help us to fund life-changing and potentially life-saving projects that will benefit cancer patients both now and in the future.

Story

Below is Mark’s reason for doing this walk, I’m joining him to keep him going. Cancer affects mostly all of our lives in one way or another. The more money raised the more chance we have to beat this!!

Please donate anything you can every penny counts and is greatly appreciated 🙏

EDIT 18/06/25 I have changed to a 1,000 miles

I'm 17 miles from reaching 1million steps, lets keep rolling

Now building as a team **

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. EDIT 01/06/2025

Hi, and thanks for viewing my page, and here are my 1million and one reasons for fundraising.

Since the start of this walk at April1st (same day I got my 2 year clear) I have amazed with support, good wishes, help and just how much

The Christie group of hospitals mean to me and many more.

I lost a kidney in March 2025, and always have been a fundraiser at heart for multiple charities. Kept telling myself when feeling a bit better, would give back. After losing my sister in late March 25 to a 14 year on and off battle with Cancer, Daz Symes a good mate who incidentally had a kidney out 5 weeks before me, as well as brother in law with Kidney cancer last year.

It has marched me to taking action, long passed are the Manchester 10k's dressed a Pikachu, Minion , Speed, Camera and even the Tango man.

Not wanting to make a single effort of another one of those, I was sat thinking one night how I have a million and reasons to want to talk people I have lost, but also a million and one reasons to give back.

I went on holiday Oct 2024 and could still only muster about 3/4s of a mile at most without having to rest my legs and get my breath back, I had become that unfit and fatigued.

So mad idea's and calculations I decided on a "proper" challenge with no time limit. 1,000,001 and one steps!!, Now I get about 1300/1350 steps per km/2100 per mile. Could I do 200,000 steps per month (93 mile) geez, I will give it go I suppose. ( see last paragraph for changes )

Spoke to the wonderful people at Christies to say I wanted to start my own walk, and here we have it.

Edit Edit : 2month in and I have already reached 800,000 steps, I have lost 17lbs in weight, my feet don't feel like mine. I have started a local strollers group, to get others fitter, some company.

Plus have now just about organized a real challenge

Christie @ Macclesfield to Christie @ Withington 5th July 2025 with as many people as possible raising their own sponsorship. We have 16.5 route, a 5.5 mile and a 1 mile route for all to join in.

Planning all sorts of of other fun, and loving it all

So much so as I get to the 1,000,001I am going to carry, not at the pace I have been going but if I can do 470miles ish to get to the 1,000,001 way ahead of schedule. Why not and thankyou to the contributor with my new nickname " Forrest Lump" keep going. Say Lands and end to John o' Groats which is about 1.8million, but I know what will happen then , I will want to finish at 2,000,001. So that's why and why
