On Sunday 6th July I will be running the Great North 10K and on Sunday 7th September the Great North Run for Sunderland Mind.
At the end of 2024 I was struggling with my physical and mental health and felt like I was stuck in a rut. After a difficult few months, I decided the only way things were going to change was if I tried something new, that was just for me. So after watching lots of videos of the Great North Run, I built up the courage to give couch to 5k a try.
Over the last 6 months I feel like running has taught me so much about myself. I feel like I have my freedom back, something I had been searching for a lot in my 20’s. It has helped me increase my confidence, helped me feel good and feel proud of myself too. I honestly don’t think I’ve ever felt as content as I do in life right now, and I didn't think that was possible
I’ve planned the runs to help me keep accountable on my journey and I wanted to use this opportunity to raise money for a charity that is very close to my heart - Sunderland Mind. I am extremely grateful to be a part of this fantastic team who have always been there to support me over the last 6 years. I’m extremely proud to be raising funds for an incredible charity and I’m hoping that this is just the start of lots of exciting challenges to come.
