Sponsored Silence

Our investigators, lawyers and campaigners fight for those who need it most – people on death row, people held without charge or trial, people tortured and people targeted by illegal and lethal drone attacks.

Story

I'm taking on a sponsored silence - and not just because I talk too much.

For the past year, I’ve worked with Reprieve, a legal action NGO that defends people facing some of the gravest human rights abuses in the world - people on death row, people tortured, detained without charge or trial, or targeted by illegal drone strikes. These are individuals silenced by powerful governments, often with no access to justice.

So, I’ve chosen to stay silent for a day (a serious challenge for someone as famously talkative as me) to raise money and awareness for the people whose voices are never heard. My silence is symbolic of those who are forcibly silenced: people detained indefinitely, separated from their families and denied their basic human rights in the name of ‘national security’.

For every case we’re able to defend, there are countless others we may never even hear about - stories buried, lives destroyed and power abused behind close doors. My colleagues and I work tirelessly every day to uncover these abuses and hold those in power accountable.

Please support me in this challenge and help power our investigators, lawyers and campaigners to continue their vital work.

Thank you for being part of this.
