Story
Victoria; Paris Marathon 🇫🇷🏃🏻♀️
Running a marathon before I hit 40 has always been on the bucket list - and after London said no for the fourth time, Paris was put on the table… an opportunity I couldn’t say no to ✨
The biggest challenge I’ve ever taken on - especially for a girl who definitely doesn’t like running! Early mornings, long runs, tempo runs, rolling 400s… all completely new territory. It’s been tough, uncomfortable, and at times overwhelming - but with the support of the amazing people around me, it’s starting to feel achievable 💪🏼
Adrian; London Marathon 🏴🏃🏻
Running the London Marathon had always been in the back of my mind. One problem. I don’t really like running. No matter how far I run, it hurts!
Last year I was lying in bed, watching the London Marathon on TV and listening to the inspirational stories. The kind that give you a nudge and make you think, maybe I could do that and I really should do that! So I went for it. I entered the ballot while the race was still on and somehow, first time, I got in. I’ve managed to get some training in. I’m now happy running 10km. But there’s a long road ahead. Another 32km to go.
That’s where the extra push comes in. I’m really excited to keep our fundraising going for this brilliant charity. Every pound you give gives me that extra nudge to keep going and when it gets tough, it will. I’ll be thinking about every bit of support that’s helped get me to the start line, and will carry me all the way to the finish.
Last year, we came together with many colleagues and members at David Lloyd Worcester to support Birmingham Children’s Hospital. We took on all sorts of challenges and raised money along the way, so it felt right to continue fundraising for such an incredible cause. Every mile will be worth it knowing it’s helping such an amazing place!
Any donations, big or small, would be so warmly appreciated 🤍❤️
Thank you for all the support - Paris and London here we come!
