My brother and I are going to walk a mile a day in May to support and raise awareness about childhood cancer. Every year around 150 children in Yorkshire are diagnosed with cancer. I was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia (ALL) T-cell in Dec 2022 and have been receiving chemotherapy treatment since by the fantastic doctors and nurses at Leeds Children’s Hospital and the community nurses in York. I am doing well but the treatment is long and has its challenges.

Our world changed overnight, for our entire family. Getting through this journey has its emotional, physical, practical and financial challenges. Thankfully the Candlelighters were with us from the word go supporting us emotionally and financially. They are so welcoming and seeing them at hospital when I go for treatment is always a treat. They support every single family of children with cancer and invest in vital research to improve the outcomes and lives of children with cancer. Raising £1000 will pay for a family to have a week’s holiday/rest.

The Candlelighters are always ready to help and support myself and my family in many positive ways. My brother and I want to help them continue their work to help other families.
