Run Cheltenham Half Marathon 2025 · 21 September 2025 ·

nia works with women and girls who have been subjected to sexual and domestic violence and abuse, including prostitution. We deliver frontline services to around 2,000 women and girls a year. Our services include specialist refuge accommodation, rape crisis, advocacy and counselling.

Story

On 21st September this year I'll be running my fourth half marathon. As in previous years, I'm using it as an opportunity to raise money for the Nia project.

Nia supports around 2000 women each year with a range of services including prostitution exiting, rape crisis, domestic violence support and play therapy. In addition to provides frontline services, Nia also undertakes research and advocacy work. They're a brilliant, unashamedly woman-focussed charity to support.

Obviously running a fourth half marathon is less impressive than running the first three. You could of course just donate to Nia directly instead of letting me make it #allaboutme. Indeed, I did think of not asking for anything this time (but would that mean I was more worried about looking like a narcissist than helping others? It's a real moral maze...). In any case, though, this will be the first half marathon I have run IN MY FIFTIES, so I'm trying to make that A Thing. Plus I'm trying to get it under two hours, so, that's, like, another thing that will be hard (please don't suggest a full marathon yet, though).

I'll shut up now and just say that any donations would be hugely valued and go to a wonderful cause.
