Matthew's fundraiser for Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team

Matthew Dickinson is raising money for Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team

Exoskeletons at Altitude: A Mountain Rescue Fundraiser · 3 October 2026

Lochaber Mountain Rescue team is Scotland's busiest team, often carrying out more than 150 rescues a year. Run entirely by volunteers we rely on your generous donations to allow us to help those in need.

Story

This October, three of us from Viking Exos are climbing Ben Nevis. We will be be wearing our own exoskeleton the whole way up.

team member 1: Matthew Dickinson

team member 2: Ben Cordery

Virtual team member 3: Nora Nimmerichter (Base command)

Virtual team member 4: Declan Nimmerichter (Base command)

We build wearable robotics to support the human body under real physical strain, in warehouses, on building sites, on the battlefield, in care settings. There's no better test of that mission than the highest mountain in the British Isles, in whatever weather October decides to throw at us.

We're doing this to raise money for Lochaber Mountain Rescue Team, the volunteers who are on call every single day of the year to help anyone who gets into difficulty on Ben Nevis. They do it unpaid, in all conditions, and they rely entirely on donations to keep going.

And if you fancy taking on your own challenge alongside us, whether that's climbing with us, doing your own event, or just cheering us on from afar, get in touch. The more of us involved, the more we can raise for a team that genuinely saves lives on that mountain.
