Walk 100 miles in August

Animals in Distress cares for and re-homes hundreds of unwanted animals every year. We are passionate about the welfare of the animals in our charge and always treat them with dignity and kindness. We are committed to keeping them healthy and secure until they find their new, forever homes.

Story

Hello :) Hope you're doing okay today. Thank you for taking the time to visit this page.

It's time for another fundraiser - no. 3 so far this year. This time it's back to raising money for the amazing Animals in Distress in Ipplepen who take in, care for and rehome over 600 homeless, lost and abandoned cats, dogs, rabbits and guinea pigs every year and help them find a safe and loving home. Everyone at Animals in Distress is passionate about improving the lives of pets who have lost their home. They exist to take them in, to care for them and to find them the perfect new home.

They really are absolute angels, which is why I am choosing to fundraise for them again with a 'walk 100 miles in August' challenge. I love walking and am lucky to live just over a mile from the sea - but I don't walk over 3 miles every day (which is what I will need to do), so this will be a challenge for me...but I will smash it, because it's for an amazing cause. The bloody weather had better sort itself out though!!

I'll be updating everyone on my progress over on Instagram - so if you're interested and you don't follow me already, you can find me under viks_pops

I know times are hard, but if there is any way you could spare some money to help AiD continue their amazing work, I and they would be very very grateful.

Thank you xx

For those of you that don't know, all four of our cats have come from AiD - we have BomBom (aka Wonky Bomber) who was born with a wonky back, so when we brought him home, we didn't know if he'd live beyond 1 year old. He's now 6 :) He is a fabulous hunter, but he only hunts leaves. It's so funny. We hear him come in, that muffled meow sound, and every time it's a leaf or a branch of some description. I think the most leaves we have collected around the house in a week was 113. He's such a gorgeous boy, with the most gentle soul.

We have Saff who is a 6 year old snowshoe and is the absolute princess of the house. She has lived with us for almost 2 years having come from an environment where she wasn't particularly well looked after (I'm amazed she put up with any of that nonsense, quite frankly!). She loves going out on her adventures and bring us 'gifts' when she comes home - she's a very very sweet girl, despite the prolific hunting!

Then we have the two most recent arrivals. Little Dino - who was born with a deformed leg - after lots of effort from the team at AiD to correct it, it was obvious it wasn't going to work, so when he was a couple of months old, they removed his leg. When we saw him, we knew he was coming home with us! He is amazing - only having one of his back legs doesn't stop him AT ALL. He climbs up to the top of the cat trees, runs around the house...he's just fabulous. And then there's Betty, Dino's sister, who is absolutely CRAZY and makes us laugh every single day. She's just the prettiest, fluffiest bundle of loveliness and we are glad that we brought her home too. They are now 1 already (where does the time go?!) and having a lovely life with us and their big brother and sister.
