Story
🚴♂️ Bournemouth to Aberdeen — 5 Days, 1000km (620 miles), 2 Riders, 1 Cause 🚴♂️
This September, Graham Carter (Leisure Club Manager, Farnborough) and myself, Dave Whitehouse (Hotel Manager, Eastleigh), will be taking on an epic multi-day cycling challenge — riding from the Village Hotel Bournemouth all the way to the Village Hotel Aberdeen, in support of Hospitality Action.
We’re aiming to raise awareness and funds for the vital work this charity does in supporting people across the hospitality industry facing crisis — and we’d love your support.
💛 About Hospitality Action
Hospitality Action offers support to hospitality workers who find themselves in difficulty. Whether it’s financial aid for those facing hardship, mental health support for individuals dealing with stress, anxiety or depression, or help for retired hospitality workers in need, they’re there when people in our industry need it most. From chefs and cleaners to front-of-house teams and beyond, Hospitality Action is a lifeline for thousands every year.
💥 The Challenge
Together, we’ll ride nearly 1,000 km (620 miles) over 5 days, stopping at Village Hotels along the way:
Day 1: Bournemouth → Solihull — 226 km (140 miles)
Day 2: Solihull → St David’s — 152 km (94 miles)
Day 3: St David’s → Blackpool — 112 km (70 miles)
Day 4: Blackpool → Edinburgh — 303 km (188 miles)
Day 5: Edinburgh → Aberdeen — 198 km (123 miles)
We’ve both done endurance rides before, but nothing like this. It’s going to test us physically and mentally. But cycling and fitness are a huge part of how we manage our own wellbeing, and we want to use this challenge to show how staying active can support mental resilience, even with busy work and family lives.

We’re incredibly grateful to be able to take this on and to raise awareness for the fantastic work Hospitality Action does.
Wish us luck, we’re going to need it!
Thank you!
Dave & Graham
