Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Over the past 2 years I have been supporting two charities that benefit local communities and those less fortunate - Charity Begins At Home and Food Cycle (Lewisham). In order to some raise money and awareness for both charities, I'm participating in the London CEO Sleepout on 20th November. And to hopefully get you all to dig a little deeper into your pockets, I'm planning to run 17 miles from my home in Petts Wood to the event at Lord's cricket ground. I chose 17 miles because on average 17 people in London become homeless, sleeping rough for the first time every day. The running element of this challenge may be a little ambitious given it’s only 8 weeks away and I've not run since an operation in May this year to remove two discs from my neck to be replaced with titanium implants. So, there wont be any records broken on this run, but hopefully I will get there in time for the sleepout at least!

Any donations will help to make a real difference to both these charities, so please give if you can.

Also, special thanks to my employer Jefferies International who are very generously matching donations up to £2000.

More about the two charities...

Charity Begins At Home (Registered UK charity #1111079) - The organization, which runs food distribution every Friday and Food banks, solely relies on volunteers and donations. We look after 200+ people in need by providing them with fresh warm meals, water, smoothies, yoghurts, sandwiches, ready meals, crisps, chocolates, biscuits, fruits, sleeping bags, clothes and plenty of other items. Every Friday afternoon we are at the Strand - Agar Street in the heart of London. The charity is now in its 8th year and was recently featured in the King Charles first Christmas Broadcast 2022 https://charitybeginsathome.org/

Food Cycle <Lewisham> (Registered UK charity #1101616, part of Lewisham Local) - The organization runs community meals, which means we invite people to come and sit with us, around a table and enjoy a hot, nutritious meal. Our meals are served with warmth and dignity by friendly volunteers in a welcoming environment. Our weekly community dining service not only helps tackle food poverty but it also helps alleviate loneliness by bringing the community together. By cooking with surplus ingredients, we promote healthy, sustainable attitudes towards food and its impact on the environment, and help people to learn more about healthy food https://foodcycle.org.uk/location/foodcycle-lewisham/
