Thank you for wishing to contribute to this memorial fundraiser for Vinod Ashok Burton (19 July 1942 - 8 December 2023)

He is survived by his beloved wife, Vanu, daughter Sapna, son Ashok, their respective spouses, Andy and Sonia, and his grandchildren. Born in Mauritius, Vinod studied medicine in Bombay, where he met his lifelong love. He came to the UK in 1972 on a British Council Scholarship.

Working for the NHS, he rose to be an eminent consultant ophthalmic surgeon. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he was also a devoted brother, favourite uncle, fun-loving friend, generous host, seasoned 'bon vivant' and raconteur of long stories and corny jokes! He could talk to anyone and make them feel welcome.

An enthusiastic volunteer, fundraiser and former President of the Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club, he was honoured with a lifetime membership by the wonderful friends he made there.

In his memory, and as his last act of service for others, the family have requested no flowers please, and instead, any donations made to the Rotherham Sitwell Rotary Club Benevolent Fund.
