I am running the Big Half to raise awareness and funds for a charity called Small Steps SFP. They help children with physical disabilities, aged from birth to 5 years, work on all areas of their development, using the principles of conductive education. These children have cerebral palsy, other forms of motor impairment, syndromes or sensory impairment. They need a great deal of extra stimulation and assistance to help them reach even the most basic milestones. At Small Steps, a teacher, conductor and physiotherapist lead both parent and child through a structured programme designed to help each child achieve individualised developmental steps. The work of Small Steps is a lifeline to families and I would be extremely grateful for your support for this very worthy cause.

My own personal experience at Small Steps has been invaluable for me and my daughter Sophie who has Costello syndrome. They have been very important in Sophie’s life and she truly enjoys going there! They are just amazing, and the adjective is not even strong enough to describe the impact they have! She has progressed so well with their support that she'll be graduated soon. Well done to my little Sophie!!! The thought of no longer going there makes me cry as me and Sophie love it so much! But it's a bitter sweet feeling. And it's time to leave a space for another little one who very much needs the support of this team!

Small Steps is a free service and receives no statutory funding, so is solely dependent on charitable grants, fundraising and donations.
