Hello family, friends & Acquaintances!!
I am a Trustee at an amazing non-profit organization called Carers UK which is celebrating 60 incredible years. Carers UK fights every day to drive change and support for the 5.8million Carers across the UK. To mark this milestone, I am raising awareness & support by taking on a cross Lake Zurich swim – a distance of 1.9km.

About Me
As part of a dual career couple bringing up 2 daughters – life was always on the go with global travel and multiple international moves. However, life changed instantly in 2018 when my husband Rob, sustained a spinal cord injury while participating in a triathlon and he is now paralyzed and in a wheelchair.
Having been a long-term carer for my mom and more recently for Rob – I have personal knowledge of the rollercoaster ride that comes with the responsibilities of caring – whether expected or unexpected. I joined Carers UK as a Trustee in 2023 as I wanted to give back in some way to support others who find themselves in a position like myself.
About Carers UK
it isn’t just a support lifeline, it’s a driving force for change. Here are some recent achievements:
• Introduction of Carer’s Leave Act 2024: It gives employees the right to unpaid leave to care for someone. Carers UK played a central role in the introduction of this legislation.
• Helped secure an increase to Carer’s Allowance earnings limit - from £151 to £196 per week (effective 1 April 2025), boosting income for low-income carers as part of their campaign to end carer poverty.
• Help employers retain employees who are carers, through Employers for Carers (EfC) membership & services – 600 working carers leave employment EVERY DAY costing UK businesses GBP 8.2billion per year.
