The Gambia Vision Mission

Helen Bonnick is raising money for Vision arcade eye care foundation
“Delivering Eyecare in The Gambia”

on 22 April 2025

We are an eye care organisation that provides free comprehensive eye health check ,free optical aids and sponsor patients needing minor eye operation for surgery in very low income communities across west Africa whilst creating eye health awareness across the globe to combat avoidable sight loss .

Story

Next week, I’ll be travelling to The Gambia with Vision Arcade, a small but determined charity delivering free eye care to communities with no other access to it.

We’ll be providing eye tests, glasses, and cataract surgery — all at no cost to the patients.

The trip is entirely funded by the charity, and all proceeds go directly towards equipment, transport, and essential care. Adaku Eze, who leads the charity, generously puts in her own time and resources to make sure these visits happen.

The work isn’t easy — many people can wait up to 12 hours just in the hope of being seen. Sadly, we can’t reach everyone, and it’s heartbreaking to turn people away. But every donation helps us reach a few more.

If you’re able to give anything at all, it’ll go directly towards bringing clearer sight to someone who desperately needs it. Thank you so much for your support.
