In a 5 pillar approach, Vital Beats offer drumming, song, reflective practice, dance and performance. Each modular element combines in a unique pedagogy that they have successfully delivered since 2015.

Vital Beats work in the Criminal Justice System; and outside, with those who support them. Currently running multiple large-scale projects at Eastwood Park Women’s Prison (EWP) on main location & the therapeutic Nexus Unit, Eden House Approved Premise, Refugee Women of Bristol (RWOB), Nelson Trust, Mens approved premises and recent collaborations with HMP SEND, Bristol Mind, Active Recovery and Barnado’s. Vital Beats works with two all female bands. Bristol based Tolo Ko Tolo and London based Cascada.

In 2026 -7 Vital Beats Charity will build on these newer community connections to improve pipelines for training, performance and the core pedagogical work; to build transformative experiences through combined arts practices for more diverse and geographically remote cohorts.
