We are raising money to support our ongoing work with Women at risk in both prison settings and the wider community. We offer therapeutic workshops using Drumming, Reflective Practices & Song to support Women and staff on their journeys of Post Traumatic Growth.

Vital Beats facilitate sessions that provide connectedness, self empowerment, creative expression and a sense of belonging. We are currently devising a training program to gather more facilitators to offer Vital Beats healing methodology to marginalised Women nationally.

Women make up only 4% of the prison population but are increasingly underserved. The majority of women in prison (82%) report that they have mental health problems, compared with just over half of men (59%)

Women serving long sentences have concerns about long term health issues going untreated, lack of adequate health care and poor understanding of gender specific health by prison officers. (Bromley Briefings)

Vital Beats' work aims to address and tackle these issues by assisting both Women and staff to connect in new ways. Embedding their services on the therapeutic wing at Eastwood Park Women's Prison since 2015, they have worked alongside forensic psychologists, prison officers and Women with Personality Disorders. They have made a huge impact and continue to work diligently to offer support to Women through Indigenous Science (backed by academic research) in a fun, safe, dynamic and innately humanising space.
