Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
We are pretty sure we said after our local marathon we did in 2021 and then the Brighton Marathon in 2022 that we wouldn’t do another, but have you really run a marathon if it’s not the one in our amazing capital city?! 🤷🏻♀️🤷🏻♂️
We are running for a lesser known charity called the Queen Elizabeth’s Foundation for Disabled People (QEF) and they work with children & adults with physical & learning disabilities and adults with acquired brain injuries or complex neurological needs - this charity only had 13 marathon places so we feel quite chuffed to be accepted 😌
And now for the awkward bit….we simply cannot get through the next gruelling months of training without the help of all of you lovely people supporting us – we need to raise a whopping £5000 which we appreciate is a lot, but by spreading the word far enough we hope we can smash that target 💪🏻
We are truly grateful for whatever you can spare to get us to that target 🙏🏻
Some words from Justin…
“There is a bit from Shaun of the Dead where you think you are watching Zombies but it is just the usual noises of waking up in the morning creaking and moaning your way out of bed…….I am that Zombie wannabe already with tired legs, clicking joints and yet off I go for another marathon – a masochistic endeavour for sure. That said I do enjoy the training and mental challenge of putting one foot in front of another when the muscles say very loudly to STOP! 🙈
I struggle with the idea of asking for sponsorship (for a third time!!) considering it is something I ‘enjoy’ doing (self-flagellation) but what I would say is that QEF is an amazing charity helping nearly 10,000 disabled people a year. Please do follow the link to read a bit about what they achieve.
Vanessa and I will earn your money with blood, sweat and for sure tears at the finish line…………any donation is gratefully received, and the highest donation will get the first toenail that drops off during training! 😳”
And lastly from both of us…..there are 8 months between now & marathon day – a marathon is 26.2 miles, our legs will have covered 200-300 miles before we even get to that start line, so at any point you see us out running over the coming weeks & months please give us some encouragement….it is tough out there, especially in the winter months! 🥶
Thank you so much ❤️
