Story
Join us on an incredible journey as we participate in the "VW Golf Challenge" on March 21, 2026. For the past decade, this event has brought together enthusiasts of VW Golf cars and their derivatives up to a MK5 (circa 2006).
Our mission is clear: to drive an old VW Golf, specifically a 90hp 1989 model, all the way to Morocco while delivering a minimum of 20KG of clothes, books, toys, and other essentials to schools and families in less developed regions along the way.
Setting off from Banbury, we will traverse through France and Spain before joining fellow participants in Gibraltar. From there, we will cross the Mediterranean into Morocco. Each day will see us driving approximately 300 - 400KM over varied terrain and tracks as we navigate through the breathtaking Atlas Mountains until we reach Erg Chebbi in the Sahara Desert. After a week of adventure and giving back, we will return home with our hearts full.
As part of our commitment to sustainability, every entrance fee contributes to planting a tree in Madagascar or Nepal to neutralise our carbon footprint. To date, this initiative has resulted in over 400 trees being planted.
In addition to our journey, we are proud to support Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC UK), which operates 14 Houses next to Children's Hospitals across the UK. These Houses provide families with free accommodation while their child undergoes treatment. Our local House at Oxford's John Radcliffe Hospital cares for over 1,000 families each year—some for weeks or even months—at a cost of around £2,000 every day.
We urgently invite you to support us in this meaningful cause. Your contributions are crucial in helping us reach our target of £5,000.
We are really grateful for the companies who are also choosing to display their support via a decal on our car!
Together, let’s ensure that more families can stay close to their sick child during their time of need.
