We’ve been Proudly organising Wakefield’s Pride Events since 2005, having gained charitable status in spring 2020. Our Mission has always been the promotion of equality and diversity for the public benefit, in particular the elimination of discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity. We raise awareness among the public about the issues and difficulties affecting the lives of the LGBTQIA+ community cultivating a sentiment in favour of equality and diversity. We stage an annual festival in Wakefield and other satellite events throughout the area. We provide entertainment from a wide variety of cultures and foster a fun family atmosphere. We promote our achievements with other community groups, services and agencies, encourage local businesses, statutory bodies and charities to demonstrate their support.

On the 6th of July, the Sotterley Ross Student Union of Wakefield Girls' High School Sixth Form is holding a colour run in support of Wakefield Pride across all ages!

People in our local community should not be discriminated against or treated unfairly because of who they are. We want to come together to show our support and let them know that we stand with them. They deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. Our Sixth Form is standing together in support of acceptance for all.

All money raised from the colour run will be donated to Wakefield Pride so that we can support our local community and especially to support those struggling with acceptance and discrimination.
