Story
Lat year Wenvoe Wheelers cycled 'Wales in a Day' and raised over £4000 for Velindre Hospital.
This year we are doing it again, this time gong from Chepstow to St David's, that's a distance of 245 km. We will be leaving Chepstow Castle and heading across South Wales via Abergavenny, Brecon and Carmarthen before we cross the Preselli Mountains to St David's.
We wanted to raise money for another local charity this year so are using JustGiving to raise money for Llamau. This is a smaller organisation than Velindre Hospital but none the less does vital work supporting homeless people or those in danger of becoming homeless.
Llamau’s mission is to end homelessness before it begins.
Our mission is rooted in the belief that homelessness can be prevented, especially for young people. By focusing on early identification, intervention, and prevention, we work to address the underlying causes of homelessness before they escalate. From collaborating with schools to supporting families, our prevention work reaches thousands of people every year in Wales, offering them the support they need to stay safe, stable, and secure.
At Llamau, we understand that access to safe, supportive housing is crucial for creating positive outcomes. That’s why we’re committed to offering safe accommodation to women and young people at risk of or experiencing homelessness. We create environments that foster security and stability, allowing individuals to regain their confidence and build a foundation for success.
Our Moving On program extends this support as people transition into independent living. We offer guidance and resources that empower young people and women to sustain themselves confidently in their own homes, laying a path for long-term, stable futures
Additionally, the Tŷ Pride partnership offers targeted LGBTQ+ youth homelessness support and accommodation, ensuring that young people who identify as transgender and those within the LGBTQ+ community receive inclusive, tailored care that respects and values their identities.
