Walk a Mile in her Shoes on 29th Nov · 29 November 2024

Childhood Sexual Abuse has a devastating and often lifelong impact, sadly 1 in 4 women will experience it. We empower women to transform their lives by supporting their recovery from this awful trauma. We are open to all women living in Leicestershire that have experienced any form of CSA.

Story

About the Event

On Friday, November 29th, 2024, Beaumont Shopping Centre is hosting Walk a Mile in Her Shoes at King Power Stadium - a powerful and meaningful event where men step into women’s high-heeled shoes to raise awareness about sexual violence, including rape, sexual abuse, and assault.

Team members from your favourite shops within the centre will swap their usual trainers for high heels 🥿👠 as they walk a mile to raise essential funds for this incredible cause. It's a challenging yet proud effort to help make a positive impact!

A huge thank you to Banana Shoes for sponsoring this event and making it all possible!

Why are Men Walking in Heels?

The Walk a Mile in Her Shoes event isn’t just about raising funds - it’s about confronting gender stereotypes and starting important conversations about sexual violence. By walking in women's heels, participants experience a symbolic challenge that encourages empathy, reflection, and understanding.

This walk raises awareness about the impact of sexual violence and the urgent need to support survivors facing its lasting challenges.

The Charity We Are Fundraising For

Quetzal is a local charity in Leicester that provides free long-term counselling services to female survivors of CSA. The charity recently celebrated their 35 years of advocacy and support services for survivors of sexual violence. Your support through this event will help fund these services, ensuring that survivors have access to the resources they need to heal and move forward in their lives.

Is This Event for Men Only?

This event brings together a diverse group of participants, including Beaumont Shopping Centre’s team members, local police officers, charity representatives, social advocates, community members, and families and friends.

While Walk a Mile in Her Shoes is centred around men walking in high-heeled shoes to raise awareness of sexual violence, the event is open to everyone. While men are the primary participants, we encourage people of all genders to get involved, whether by walking, donating, or showing support.

Whether you’re walking in heels or cheering on participants from the side-lines, your involvement sends a powerful message of solidarity with survivors and highlights the importance of addressing sexual violence in our community. Everyone has a role to play in ending sexual violence, and this event is a chance for people of all genders to stand together and make a difference.
