Steve's Walk For The SCARS

Steven Manzanero is raising money for Second Chance Akita Rescue

Walk for the SCARS · 21 June 2025

We are a small group of like-minded volunteers with a passion for the Akita breed including the Japanese Akita Inu and a dedication towards their health and welfare. We operate nationally and are totally self funded. All funds raised are directly put back into the rescue and used for the care, adoption and re homing of those Akitas in kennels under Second Chance Akita Rescue.

Story

Bude to Hartland Point… on foot?! For an Akita?! You betcha.

Hi there! I'm walking 17 miles (yes, SEVENTEEN) from Bude to Hartland Point to celebrate our absolute legend of a dog — our Akita, who has just turned 17 years old! That’s 119 in dog years and probably twice that in stubbornness.

To honour each glorious year of fluff, snoozing, and selective hearing, I’m aiming to raise £100 for every year — that’s £1,700 for those of you who, like me after mile 12, can’t do maths.

But I don’t want to walk alone (mainly because I’ll need moral support and probably snacks), so I’m asking you lovely people to walk your own dogs too — wherever you are — and join me in spirit! Bonus points if your dog drags you the whole way like a canine-powered sled.

Thanks a million for visiting my JustGiving page. Donating through here is quick, secure, and doesn’t involve awkward small talk. Your money goes straight to the charity, so you're skipping the middleman and going full hero mode.

Now… where did I put those blister plasters?
