On the 21st September we, as a group of Isaac’s friends, will be walking from London to Crowthorne in memory of Isaac Harris, who died suddenly from an epileptic seizure on the 5th June 2023, aged 21. In doing so, we are raising money for SUDEP Action, who support research and awareness campaigns aiming to reduce the risk of SUDEP (Sudden Unexpected Death in Epilepsy) and other epilepsy related deaths, and in the past year have provided invaluable support to Isaac’s parents, Stephen and Penny.
Isaac was a keen cyclist, having completed the London to Brighton ride twice and cycled from his home in Crowthorne to the Isle of Wight. He loved cycling, walking and going to the gym with his friends, and had a unique talent for motivating others to push beyond their perceived physical limits. This challenge is therefore in honour of what Isaac could do best.
Isaac was diagnosed with epilepsy at the age of 18, but did not let this define him. He went on to Warwick University to study Data Science, where he continued to spread his passion for cycling, both at University and on a cycling holiday in Mallorca.
Sadly, Isaac died just one exam away from finishing his degree, which was awarded posthumously and collected by his dad, Stephen, last Summer. Isaac had an incredible talent for coding, and had planned to work at FunTech the Summer after graduating, before building a career in the tech world. Isaac’s drive, great sense of humour, and passion for sport made him such a special friend to all of us, and he is sorely missed.
Starting from Hampton Court Palace, we will follow the Thames before passing through Windsor Great Park and Swinley Forest, where many of us enjoyed cycling with Isaac. We will then finish at Isaac’s childhood home in Crowthorne. We will be walking for over 12 hours, covering more than 50km, which will be both a physical and mental challenge.
21 people die in the UK each week from epilepsy and tragically young people, like Isaac, are most at risk. Please help us fund vital research and support, to stop other lives from being cut short by epilepsy.

About SUDEP Action:
Although most people with epilepsy live long and healthy lives, epilepsy is one of the top-ten causes of early death. At SUDEP Action, we focus our efforts on providing tools to help keep people safe and on the priorities that bereaved families tell us are important: To prevent deaths; To be supported; To be involved.
SUDEP Action have won national and international honours for our achievements to date, but we recognise there is much more work to do, and this is why we need your donations. With your help we can strive to make a difference.
