Help young carers with MYTIME Young Carers: Walk the Camino

Camino de Santiago Pilgrimage · 24 July 2025
On July 24th, Simon and Kirsty from Ouch Learning and Development will be walking the legendary Camino de Santiago route. An 800km journey across Spain as part of a JustGiving fundraising campaign for MYTIME Young Carers, a Dorset-based charity supporting young carers across the UK, and environmental charity, the Dorset Wildlife Trust.

We’re taking on this historic pilgrimage to raise awareness of the life-changing power of walking and to support young carers who give so much, so young.
Simon knows this journey personally. From ages 13 to 16, he was a young carer for his mum, who had multiple sclerosis. Life revolved around her care, until one outdoor adventure changed everything.
“I don’t remember the location, but I’ll never forget the feeling. Kayaking, climbing, and walking in nature gave me a sense of freedom and confidence I’d never known.”
That experience sparked a lifelong love of walking and the outdoors, something Simon now wants to share with others through this Camino de Santiago walk.
MYTIME Young Carers creates lasting change by:
• Organising activity days and residential trips
• Helping young carers build friendships and support networks
• Giving them space to relax, grow, and just be kids
Their work is vital. According to Caring Together, 80% of young carers feel more alone than ever, and 59% don’t get a break from their responsibilities. MYTIME is changing that.
By sponsoring our Camino de Santiago fundraising walk, you’ll help MYTIME:
• Fund outdoor adventures and activity days
• Provide emotional and practical support
• Give young carers the break they desperately need
Your donation through our JustGiving page will directly support these life-changing initiatives.
If you’ve ever wanted to support a cause that truly makes a difference, this is your chance. Whether you're inspired by the Camino de Santiago, passionate about youth wellbeing, or simply want to give back, your support matters.
