Story
On 26 July, Dan Armstrong, Tom Kirkup, Andrew Davidson and Rob Kirkup will be taking on a challenging walk in the Lake District as we attempt to complete the Derwent Water Round via Cat Bells.
As much as we'd love a nice easy stroll through the beautiful countryside, this route is officially described as “difficult”, with alltrails.com saying that it's "challenging" and 10adventures.com calling it "tough". It even includes sections where "scrambling" is required.
Despite that, it’s a challenge we’re genuinely proud to take on.
This year marks ten years since we first started walking to raise money for Cancer Research UK (our ninth walk, as we weren't allowed out to do one in 2020). Over that time, we’ve raised more than £10,000 for this incredible cause.
When we first began, our close friend John was bravely battling cancer. By the time of our second walk, John had sadly passed away at just 34 years old. Every walk since has been done in his memory, and in honour of everyone whose life has been affected by cancer.
Cancer Research carries out vital work that saves lives, improves treatments and gives people hope — things John, and so many others, deserved. Every step we take is for him, and every donation helps fund that life‑saving research.
Any donation, no matter the size, would mean a huge amount to us. Thank you for supporting our walk, remembering John, and helping us continue to fight cancer.
