30km walk along Ridgeway National Trail

Migrant Leaders supports young people from disadvantaged/migrant backgrounds to achieve their career potential through a transformative education & training programme delivered via structured mentoring, skills development, networking & professional access through partnerships with leading employers.

Story

Hey everyone!

My name is Sara, and I am a second year UCL Mathematics with Economics student.

This September, I’ll be walking 30km along the Ridgeway National Trail with a few friends to raise money for a charity extremely important to me, Migrant Leaders.

Migrant Leaders supports young people from both migrant and disadvantaged backgrounds in fulfilling their potential. They do this by providing workshops, mentoring, and more to inspire, build confidence and develop knowledge and skills.

I specifically chose to support Migrant Leaders because of my mum’s journey as a teenage migrant in the UK. Despite facing many challenges, such as housing insecurities, language barriers, and difficulties perusing her education, her determination and resilience led to her building her future. But, with this programme her talents and passion could have been recognised earlier.

Now Migrant Leaders has over 4000 mentees, operates in 450 locations, and has 2050 mentors from over 95 FTSE100 organisations. I hope that by raising money and promoting Migrant Leaders we can create more opportunities and empower more young people.

Thank you so much for reading, any form of support is extremely appreciated! :))
