Story
In June last year, around eighty Global colleagues took part in the Alpe d’Huez cycling and hiking challenge in France to raise money for UNICEF. Together, they climbed no less than 1143 m, with an average gradient of 7.9%, over 14.5 km with 21 hair-pin bends!
A great collective effort that we will repeat this year, but this time in our three regions, as per Joris’ message back in December. So, from across the world, we’ll join forces and raise money for the Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH) programmes of UNICEF. These programmes help provide access to clean water, proper sanitation and good hygiene, basic human rights which UNICEF is working to uphold for every child.
And this is the challenge we want to take up in America. Are you ready for it?
When: June 8th- June 14th
What: a walking challenge across the Americas, with every colleague walking 25 miles during that period
Who: everyone across the region split in 4 teams:
o Team Brazil, Argentina, Chile
o Team Colombia & Costa Rica
o Team Mexico
o Team US and Canada
The rules:
o The total score will be made up by dividing by the total distance walked by the total number of each team’s registered individuals
o The team with the highest average distance by person for the 7-day period will be the winner of the challenge
o We will be reaching out shortly introducing the platform that we will be using to capture and chart our progress
Fundraising goal: $10K!
And to finish on a high note, on June 14th, we will celebrate the end of the challenge with afternoon parties in Dallas, New York, Reston, Nutley, Mexico City, Bogota and Sao Paulo!
