Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Emma Britton was a local radio presenter in the Somerset and Bristol areas, who has been very inspiring to me and she took many of my favourite radio presenters under her wing and coached them to help them do the brilliant work that they do today, broadcasting on local radio and beyond.
She was also in recent years, a Celebrant and was a comfort to many families who had lost loved ones.
She also meant a lot in so many ways to so many people. She made an impact on many lives just through being ‘Emma’ and through the causes and organisations that she devoted her time to.
She sadly died with stage 4 ALK Positive Lung Cancer on Saturday 23rd May 2026, a year after being diagnosed with it.
She and her family were helped enormously by the ALK Positive UK Charity and she was a keen fundraiser for them too.
In her memory and to raise funds for the charity which meant so much to her, I am going to be walking each day from Monday 6th July to Friday 10th July through some parts of Emma Britton’s wide broadcasting patch.
Somewhere in the region of 60 miles in the Somerset and Bristol areas.
Emma talked in her eulogy about carrying a heavy old style suitcase with her each day (the burden of living with ALK Positive).
With that in mind I will be carrying a backpack on my back, with my supplies for the week. A much lighter load than she carried, but symbolic of it.
