100 Mile Walk - Aintree Racecourse to York Racecourse in aid of Graham Lee · 12 May 2024

Its prime purpose is to provide appropriate help, medical, financial and otherwise, to current and retired jockeys who are injured, unable to ride or in need.

Story

Myself and Mick Caines are walking from Aintree Racecourse to York Racecourse from Sunday 12th May to Wednesday 15th May 2024. We will be arriving at York Racecourse on the Wednesday for the opening day of the Dante meeting.

The walk is approximately 100 miles.

All funds raised will be going to Graham Lee and ring fenced by the Injured Jockey Fund to support Graham and his family.

Graham suffered an accident at Newcastle Racecourse in November 2023, the injuries suffered by Graham are life changing injuries. Graham remains in James Cook Spinal Unit but has received planning permission to adapt their home so that he can leave hospital at some stage.

Graham has been a top class jockey for well over 20 years. We have chosen Aintree and York racecourses for the walk as these are courses where Graham has had arguably his two biggest career wins. Graham had success at Aintree in the 2004 Grand National on Amberleigh House and won the Nunthorpe Stakes at York on Alpha Delphini in 2018.

Graham is a top class sportsman and someone who has been highly respected throughout his entire career. More importantly Graham is one of the most humble and nicest people you could meet. He has a long road ahead in his recovery and hopefully you can support Graham, his wife Becky and children Amy and Robbie.
