Walk For Tom · 21 September 2024

Each week at least twelve young people in the UK die suddenly as a result of undiagnosed heart conditions. At Cardiac Risk In the Young we aim to save young lives & to help those affected by young sudden cardiac death (YSCD). We do this by providing support, information & screening those affected.

Story

Tom Petley was a 20 year old fit and healthy man who sadly died in April 2022 due to an undiagnosed heart condition.

Last year members of the Tendring Beach Patrol took on a 31-mile trek around the coast of Tendring.

They visited every Beach Patrol station in the district.

This walk took roughly 12 hours from Brightlingsea to Tom's memorial bench in Dovercourt.

This year on the 21st September 2024 the walk is set to happen again however this time, it's been opened to everybody!

All money raised through this walk will go to putting on heart screenings in the Harwich, Essex area.

Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death (YSCD) by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions.
