Story

In February 2024, Gladwin Rafferty sadly passed away after a long battle with cancer. Gladwin was dearly loved by many including those who are doing this walk in his memory.

Our group of 15 includes Wendy Rafferty, Gillian Foxcroft, Gemma Blackham, Mike Briggs, Katie Briggs, Emma Brown, Martin Cassidy, Roan Cassidy, James Chisholm, Kay Chisholm, Julie Harrison, Robin Preedy, Mark Rafferty, Kelly Rafferty, Alison Whitmore.

Those who knew Gladwin remember him as a joyous person, who was fun to be around, treated everyone the same, was generous with his time in helping others and just loved life.

Gladwin organised many events to raise money for charities. We have therefore signed up to do this walk to raise funds for Macmillan to provide help for people living with cancer. The Macmillan Unit at Royal Derby Hospital provided excellent care for Gladwin as well as support to his family and friends.

Our group name is in homage to Gladwin’s favourite football team Leeds United but don’t let that put you off sponsoring us. Gladwin will be with us in spirit on the walk.

We would be so grateful if you could help us to reach our sponsorship pledge.

There are currently 3 million people living with cancer in the UK today. It's Macmillan's goal to be there for everyone from the moment of diagnosis, but they can't do this without donations from people like you.

Thank You
