Story
I am walking 10km on Sunday 14 September from Lloyd Park to Croydon University Hospital to help Croydon Health Charity build a new dementia garden for patients at the Hospital. This will transform a disused area into a much-needed, therapeutic garden for older patients and those living with a dementia diagnosis, who are receiving care in Croydon.
I have significant insight into supporting loved ones with dementia as both my mum and one of my best friends are affected by dementia and Alzheimers. I know from my experience how gardens can make such a positive difference to them and our intention is that this new garden at the hospital will offer a calming environment for patients living with dementia, helping to improve their overall wellbeing and reducing the stress of being in hospital.
I Chair the Charitable Funds Committee which supports the development of fundraising to support patients and staff across Croydon Health Services NHS Trust. Developing the new garden is the Charity's key appeal this year and something very close to my heart.
Thank you for your support, Rona
