Take on the Tower Abseil 2025 · 9 August 2025

Brave superheroes from across the land will be Taking on the Tower on Saturday 10th May and abseiling 190ft down Belfast City Hospital's iconic yellow tower block to raise funds for local families impacted by cancer.

Story

Hi everyone,

I’m taking part in the abseil for Friends of the Cancer Centre again this year. This will be my 5th year taking part! If you can, please dig deep and provide a donation to this wonderful charity.

Thanks, Walter

Friends of the Cancer Centre's work focuses on four key areas – patient care, patient comfort, research and cancer awareness – supporting the services provided by the Health Service.

In the last year the charity has invested over £1.13 million into local cancer services through the life-saving and life-changing work we support.

The sponsorship money raised through this event helps fund the charity's vital support services to patients and their families across Northern Ireland.

How your support can make a difference:

£10 could provide tea and coffee for 43 people attending the hospital for treatment

£25 could help pay for 1 hour of support from a Friends of the Cancer Centre speciality nurse

£50 could pay for 2 patients to receive a complementary therapy session to help manage the side effects of treatment

£200 could help support a patient financially through the grant programme
