Wantage to Westminster: 80 Miles for The Multiple Sclerosis Trust
On Saturday 30th May 2026 - World MS Day - I hope to run 80 miles from Wantage to Westminster, setting off at midnight from the statue of King Alfred the Great in the marketplace, and aiming to reach Westminster for a pint overlooking the Thames by late afternoon!
Although I’m a regular runner and enjoy trail running with my local club, this is a completely different challenge — well beyond my usual distances and comfort zone. It will require many months of dedicated training, including early 6am winter runs and plenty of strength and conditioning work to stay healthy and avoid injury. Having a strong purpose behind the training will make all of that far easier to commit to.
I’m running in support of The MS Trust, because my big brother has lived with Multiple Sclerosis for 20 years and continues to be a huge inspiration to me.
Multiple Sclerosis (MS) is a lifelong condition affecting the brain and spinal cord, causing symptoms like fatigue, mobility issues, and cognitive challenges. It impacts over 130,000 people in the UK, placing significant strain on individuals and their families. Charities like the MS Trust provide vital support, information, and research funding—making public awareness and fundraising essential.
The MS Trust are a UK charity who bring together expertise from every angle to help people feel more in control of their MS, today and every day. Through trusted information, compassionate support, the training of new MS healthcare professionals, and research rooted in real experience, they’re here for every MS. Every day.
I’ll be sharing updates from my training in the lead-up to the run (instagram: @wantage2westminster) , and on the day itself I plan to stream my progress via a tracker, with messages of support very much welcomed along the way. This is my first time fundraising, but I’ll do my best to make the journey engaging for anyone following along.
If you’re able to donate, share the page, or cheer me on, it would mean a great deal. Thank you for your support!
