Thank you for visiting Ward L42's JustGiving page. Staff, patients and families are raising funds to make Ward L42 more child-friendly.

In 2023, Ward L42 at Leeds Children’s Hospital had to be re-painted after some major repairs. Since then, our ward area has remained white. dull and very clinical, without the colourful child-friendly touches that you would expect on a children’s ward.

Ward L42 can accommodate up to 20 children who are preparing for or recovering from surgery. Patients can be with us for weeks or even months at a time and they spend a lot of time in bed so how the walls look is really important. Bare uninspiring walls can make a long hospital admission even more difficult.

Aswell as making the space more welcoming and comfortable, decorations play an important role in providing distraction for patients when they’re having an uncomfortable procedure.

We are working with Leeds Hospitals Charity to fundraise for some lovely colourful vinyls (wall decorations) for Ward L42. We plan to use three animal themes throughout the ward area and we want to make these decorations interactive, fun and distracting.

With your help we aim to transform Ward L42 into a warm, welcoming and child friendly environment that reflects the outstanding care that our team provides.
