Story
Me and the Race
On the 12th October, I will be running the Manchester half marathon for CALM. This will be my first race in many years since the passing of my parents. My father, who died of cancer in May 2019, and my mother in December 2019 from suicide.
I’m hoping there will be many more after this so I can continue to earn funds to help organisations like CALM.
I will be posting my updates on STRAVA, which you can view via this link: https://www.strava.com/athletes/wardysays
I’ve chosen my target of £440 to match what CALM needs to fully train a support worker. If this race can train this one person, they can then influence many lives. If we do more, even better.
CALM and their Work
Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), is a suicide prevention charity. They got loads of tools and resources to help people find the support they need, including a life-saving helpline for people who can’t see a way forward, have lost someone to suicide, or are worried about their friends or loved ones.
They offer a wide range of people.

Every penny goes a long way and has a significant impact.

If when reading this, you feel you need any support please get in contact with CALM via this link https://www.thecalmzone.net and selecting get help or details in the next image.
