Thames Path Ultra Challenge 2024 · 14 September 2024 ·

We’re the world’s leading independent conservation organisation. And we’re building a future where people and nature thrive together. That’s why we’re passionate about sharing the planet’s resources more sustainably, tackling climate change and protecting endangered wildlife.

Story

A year or so ago Tom Voller and I sat in a pub and came to the realisation that we needed a hobby!

With very little talent between us, and no need to actually socialise with each other we decided we should get in to running.

First it was 5k park runs, then we tried a 10k, a 15k, gave the half marathon ago, before taking on the Athens Marathon (Don't recommend, hot and hilly)

Now through lack of anything else going on in our lives, we are doing our first ultra marathon (50k) and felt it was time we turned this into some good!

The run itself is along the Thames Pathway, starting lovely Putney and finishing in even lovelier Staines, want to come support, I wouldn't bother!

We are raising money for 2 charities, Children with cancer UK and WWF

Firstly in about 95% of cases I prefer animals to people, I love the work they do and have supported them as a charity for years. WWF was our largest and an early partner of my previous company Deep Blue Straws, supporting them in both the UK and Hong Kong. I'll always be grateful for their support in our early days and continue to donate to them today

Why Children with cancer UK:

I think Voller sums it up perfectly, cancer is shit and no one deserves it, especially children. We couldn't think of a better cause to get behind.

Thanks for reading folks, see you when we are ultra!
