Story
Lily and Dad (Warren) are running the 2026 London Marathon to raise funds for the fantastic Rays of Sunshine charity.
Lily was born with a narrowing of the Aorta and hole in the heart, undergoing her first operation aged 1 day old and open heart surgery at aged 10 months. Spending much of her earlier life visiting the Royal Brompton Hospital she was supported by Rays of Sunshine, being gifted a wish and invited to many events. To this day she continues to have check ups assessing her heart valve.
Lily is now 23 and lives a normal life.
As her proud Dad I ran the 2025 London Marathon for Rays of Sunshine as I am forever grateful for the way they supported Lily and our family through such difficult times.
Lily has been given the go ahead by her consultant to train for the Marathon and this year we team up (and will run every mile together). We are a team who want to give something back to a charity that works so hard to help so many children and their families.
So please dig deep, you really can make a difference.
Rays of Sunshine Children's Charity exists to fulfil the wishes of children, between the ages of 3-18 in the UK, of any race or gender who are terminally or seriously ill. It also buys equipment for these children and supports the hospices, hospitals and specialist schools that care for them. The charity brightens the lives of these children and their families by granting wishes and providing ongoing support. Rays of Sunshine believes that every child deserves to experience happiness and put their illness on hold, even if it is just for one day. Their work provides a positive distraction, reduces isolation, improves self-esteem and creates precious memories and smiles.
