Story
It seems a long while ago that Martin and I agreed to sign up to cycle from London to Paris on 17th / 18th May to support Duchenne UK. Encouraged by Martin’s enthusiasm at Priory Mechanical Services 50th Birthday celebrations we foolhardily thought it was a great idea despite the fact that neither of us owned, never mind had ridden a road bike at the time.
Fast forward several months and one of us is now a fully fledged MAMIL but sadly, despite having more in common with Lance Armstrong than most of us would wish, Martin never quite made it. (I have pointed out that the purchase of a bike might have helped but it fell on deaf ears). Needless to say that I was write this a shall be flying the Grangewood flag alone.
Affectionately known as the “Duchenne Dash” the event entails cycling 300km from London to Paris in 24 hours in order to raise money to help fight Duchenne muscular dystrophy. DMD is a progressive condition that causes all the muscles in the body to gradually weaken. It is usually diagnosed in childhood and there is currently no known cure.
There is hope however and Duchenne UK are currently working hard to provide ground breaking medical research, accelerating access to treatments, improving live through technology and ensuring everyone in the DMD community is given the care and support that they need, but they can on do this by receiving our ongoing support.
So please dig deep people and donate here, I’ve got a fund raising target of £5k to reach so any help getting there would be greatly appreciated
