Washington Trust's 25th Anniversary Peanut Butter Drive to benefit the Rhode Island Community Food Bank

Washington Trust is raising money for Rhode Island Community Food Bank

25th Annual Washington Trust Peanut Butter Drive · 1 March 2025

We provide food assistance and programs to address food insecurity in Rhode Island.

Story

For 25 years, Washington Trust has hosted our signature Peanut Butter Drive to help support local hunger relief agencies as they work to combat food insecurity in our communities.

With the support of our employees, customers and community members, Washington Trust has collected the equivalent of more than 161 tons of peanut butter since the drive’s inception. That’s enough to make more than 5 million peanut butter sandwiches!

We're proud to not only collect jars of peanut butter to benefit local agency partners, but also fundraise to support Rhode Island's ONLY Food Bank. The Rhode Island Community Food Bank acquires and distributes food to neighbors in need through a statewide network of more than 140 pantries and meal sites.

Each month, 84,400 Rhode Islanders receive food assistance at these agencies. Annually, the Food Bank distributes more than 16 million pounds of food.

Since the Food Bank purchases nutritious food in bulk, your donated dollars are leveraged to get more food than can be purchased at the grocery store, thereby getting more food out to those in the community who need it.
