Story
Tom Bowker was a Lancaster man with a passion for the high fells and mountains. He encouraged others to explore by writing guidebooks, articles and running mountain craft classes. When he was diagnosed with cancer he signed up as a volunteer driver to help patients get to appointments and events when they were too ill to drive themselves. He would have been delighted that his poetry is helping to raise awareness and money for for the charity.
Three other family members have also been affected by cancer and they too are all involved in this, the second of the 'Watersheds' exhibitions.
Please come along to 'Watersheds 2' and enjoy the beautiful works of art set in the fabulous Storey Gallery. We have 30 artists, photographers, artisans, printmakers and textile artists who have created brand new work inspired by Tom's poetry.
Come and spend some time with us in the beautiful gallery space. Sit quietly and read, play scrabble with friends or add a word to the 'word cairn' if you wish.
The exhibition runs from 13th-19th July (Closed Sunday 14th) it is free to enter and is open 10-6pm.
Our open event takes place at 6:30 pm on Saturday 13th July and is a chance to meet the artists and share the journey they made from reading Tom's words to creating their artwork.

His family have also published a collection of his poems that will be launched at the exhibition and a donation will be made for each book sold. If you would like to pre-order a copy please contact Julie on julieevansart.lancs@gmail.com
